This week we learned about the letter Oo, the number 7, the color brown, heart shapes, and the sound of the letter Oo.
We discussed and read about oceans and the animals that live in them.
For
centers, we finished up the centers we couldn't get to last week for
our Halloween and week of review in the M/W/F class. We finished the
pumpkin cut-outs and what was inside the pumpkin as well as stamping the
large review letters with matching letter stamps and stamps that had
pictures of animals and things that started with the matching letter.
We also made dairy cow puppets to match last week's field trip and
sorted dry rice or beans from Halloween treasures.
The
Tuesday/Thursday class was able to start new centers. They hammered
nails in the nail board, pushed pegs into the Light Bright Cube, sorted
ocean animals, and used overhead projectors as light tables to play with
various transparent and colorful items. The Friday class was able to
use the hammer & nail board and the light bright.
This week, we sang a new list of songs. Even the teachers need to learn the words to the songs :).
For
art, the M/W/F class was able to do the art project they were supposed
to do last week. I lost my marbles, last week, which made me
crazy...get it?! Tee-hee! The project was to roll a marble through white
paint and let it roll all over black paper to make a web. We did it on
Monday, so it could dry and we could glue a sparkly spider on it. The
Tu/Th class did the scratch pumpkin that the other class did last week.
This
week, we started a new Bob book. I copied it onto overhead
transparencies. This was the first time that the children had to look
at screen as I taught at the projector! They thought it was neat. Next
year in kinder, the teachers will either use a projector, an Elmo, or a
smart board. All of them require them to look at a screen.

In the M/W/F class - on day 1 we do phonics, day 2 we do art, and on day 3 we do science or math. The last time we had a three day week, we split the class in half. One half did science (motion) and the other did math (number and picture matching). This week, the two groups switched.
Next week, we'll learn about the letter Hh, the number 8, the color black, oval shapes, phonics, the theme - homes, and science in the Friday class.
