Ff is for Farms

This lesson started on Thursday, February 7th and ended on Tuesday, February 12th.  My daughter and I became ill for a whole week, so I cut our Valentine week in half to make up the letter "Ff" lesson.

For this lesson, we read books and talked about farms.  We also learned about the letter Ff and the sound it makes.

Here they are acting like farm animals while listening to the song, "Old McDonald Had a Farm".

Here they are posing with our puppet called Fiona the Firefighter.

We are stringing three letter words together like: fat, fan, fun, fin, fit...
This is really exciting for those ready for kindergarten.

This was the last week that we are working from a book that helps the children develop naturally when it comes to manipulating a pencil.  We will now go back to the traditional - match the phonetic letter with the written letter.  They practiced writing the letter "a".  It is similar to the letter "c" and then to the letter "d".  I will be sending the remaining copies of this book home to continue, if you choose.

Here are some great photos of these children playing together.  It's a huge important element of preschool for these children.  They look forward to playing with their friends.

After this lesson was over on Tuesday, February 12th, we celebrated Valentine's Day together on the 13th and 14th of February, 2013, which is the blog entry that follows this :).
