Picnic and Last Week 2013

I created the theme around picnics and summer.  Last week, the Friday classes completed their picnic placemats by weaving red strips of paper through slits in a large white piece of paper.   There was a holiday on Monday and then on Tuesday, the children completed the placemats that they couldn't do last week, since I was sick.  The last step was to put fingerprint ants on their placemats.  That was done by all of the classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I laminated them and we used them on Thursday and Friday during a real picnic.

I read to them: The Bears' Picnic, by Stan and Jan Berenstain and Summer, by Alice Low.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I reviewed all of the letters we learned.

The children were able to freely play together with the toys inside and outside for the last time or until the next school year starts.  I finished the last assessments that needed to be complete while the children socialized.

On Wednesday, we celebrated two birthdays.  On Thursday and Friday, we celebrated my daughter's upcoming birthday in each class and then we enjoyed our picnic.  We had cookies for my daughter's birthday.  The picnic items I provided were red grapes, a croissant, carrots with ranch dip, and a juice pouch.  We sat out on the picnic blankets under the shade and enjoyed the nice weather together during our last day.

Finally, I took pictures of the checker board crafts that were ready to be shipped off to our sponsored sailors.  I wanted you to see the work they did, since they didn't get to take them home.  I stitched around the squares, because the glue wasn't holding.  I also added checkers pieces and sewed on a ziploc bag to keep it with the individual boards.

Next weekend, I'll post the graduation pictures.
