Peltzer Pumpkin Patch 2013

This week, both classes were able to go on two field trips.  The first field trip on Thursday was the Peltzer Farms Pumpkin Patch.

First, the children and parents went into the garden.  I explained, with the help of the children how when you plant a pumpkin seed and it starts to grow that it will grow flowers. After the flowers are pollinated, it makes a tiny green pumpkin, which then begins to grow and grow.  The parents and the children walked around the garden and wrote down the plants they saw, the plants with flowers on them, and drew a picture of their favorite plant.

Next, we walked through the corn maze.  This year it was huge!  It was a lot of fun, especially when the children led us into a dead end.

Third, we took a big photo in front of the tractor display.

Finally, we had the choice of going into the petting zoo or not and playing among the pumpkins.

The weather was perfect.  We had a very nice day!
