Tt is for Transportation

This week, we learned about the sound of the letter Tt and combined the short sound of the letter Aa to make the word "at".  We looked at other words that have _at like "cat", "bat", "sat"...

We practiced writing the letters "V" and "W".  To write it, they "go down the slide and up the ladder" (repeat for the letter W).

We talked a lot about transportation.  I showed them pictures, read them books, showed them mini videos (see the French Valley K-Prep Preschool Facebook page), and talked.  They also acted like different forms of transportation as shown in these pictures:

We also painted with special tools: cars!!!  They ran the car through the paint and ran the painted wheels on their paper.  They had a lot of fun.  It wasn't just about painting the paper, they also experienced what happens when they run the cars through the paint on the paint trays.  I love watching their faces as they make discoveries through new processes.  Here are pictures:

My daughter did this art project twice, so I had her do water color painting in this third class that she doesn't normally join.

The Friday class had their last lesson on the five senses.  The sense we talked about and experienced was the sense of touch.  They touched a touch and feel book that had rough, soft, bumpy, and squishy items to feel.  They also felt rice, beans, and popcorn seeds in the bag and squishing it sealed in the bag.  Here are some pictures:

**I made sure they sanitized their hands after touching these, because of the whole rice issue.

They really seemed to LOVE the feel of the popcorn seeds!!

Here are some more pictures of their week:

Monday morning class wanted to eat outside on the picnic table.  However, it was really hot in the sun.  Over the week, it got cooler!!!

I LOVE her picture and her enthusiasm.

The put all the numbers back in the holder - a puzzle.  They also did some number fishing.
PUPPETS!!!

These girls were very creative in thinking of a way to use our scarves.  They asked me to tie them together to make skirts and shirts!  I love it when children discover different ways to play.
