Ll is for Leaves

This week, we talked about leaves and how they change during the fall - autumn.  We examined leaves with magnifying glasses and we did crayon rubbings of them.  We also read a couple of books on autumn leaves.   Our phonetic letter was the letter "Ll" for "lion licking a lollipop".  The letter we practiced writing was the lower case "x" and the lower case "y". Continue reading for more preschool fun...

*Another center that we did this week was to explore scissors.  My assistant and I explained the safe way to handle scissors and a general overview on how to hold them.  However, we allowed the children to figure it out on their own after we gave advice.  This allows the child to understand what feels comfortable and what feels awkward when it comes to cutting and handling scissors.

*For art, the children sponge painted red, yellow, orange, and gold glitter gel onto leaf cutouts.  I showed them how to work with the sponge, but the children explored how to handle it in their own way.

*A chance to play after art is complete while the teacher cleans up and transitions to the next activity.

*Here are pictures of a birthday boy in one of my classes.

After eating birthday cake, it's nice to be able to burn off that energy!

He got to choose which wrapped gift he wanted.

Not able to get the yarn off.  What to do....what to do...?

Rip it!  It's such a great activity to strengthen the fingers!!
