Ii is for: If You Give a ... book series by Laura Numeroff

"Ii is for If You Give a... book series by Laura Numeroff".  This book series is wonderful and allowed us not only to read a couple of her books, but to also talk about books in general (the cover, the spine, the author, the illustrator) and to talk about silliness.

Through the pictures, below, I will explain our week:

Here is my sweet little preschool class chatting.

We practiced folding an accordion pattern in another week's class for an art project.  This photo shows the children doing that same fold with bigger paper to make a fan.

The children rotated between making the fan, putting puzzles together, and learning about the letter Ii, number 13, and reviewing colors and shapes.

The children listen to a story by Laura Numeroff: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

We're concentrating - to match up letters.

This is our last step in our writing process.  The first steps are to trace sand paper cards and build the letter with Wiki Stix.

Library time is a nice time to share a book with a friend.

Pretending for the skit - "The Tortoise and the Hare".

Showing this group how to fold a fan: "Fold, press down, flip it over".

Helping the children understand the pattern:

The other center was to connect the connectors:

For art, we did 3-D.  The 2 weeks prior to this one, we did a 3-D collage.  For this one, we mixed paint with starch, dunked string into the mixture and laid the string onto paper.  I gave children two primary colors, which if they mixed, while laying the strings down, would make a secondary color (red + yellow = orange; yellow + blue = green; blue + red = purple).

While one small group worked on the art, the other group put connectors together.

Learning about our new number - 13.

Doing the Nursery Rhymes with the Preschool class:

This chat time was filled with jokes :)
